“I usually stay at the same hotel when frequenting Cape Town but on my most recent trip. I stayed in a really well furnished and equipped one-bedroom apartment which opened to a garden with great views. The pool deck was my favourite and the tranquillity of the area added to the charm of the apartment. The location is great.”

Over the last five years, the so-called ‘para-hotellerie’ segment, covering different forms of private accommodation ranging from holiday homes, bed & breakfast and hostels to staying with friends and relatives, has soared by 35% to reach a 40% share of the overall world outbound accommodation market, according to the World Travel Monitor® from IPK International. “This sector is growing very fast. It’s a new segment that is driving the business,” commented IPK President Rolf Freitag.

“Living in style with breathtaking views, this penthouse is situated in Bakoven which is the last bit of Camps Bay towards Chapman’s Peak. I love this area as it is away from the very busy beach front but still close enough to restaurants and bars on the promenade. A more spectacular position and property will be hard to find with the mountain in the back and the sea in front within walking distance of the beach. It has breathtaking sea-views. The property is contemporary in design with luxury top end furnishings and fittings. There are 5 comfortable en-suite bedrooms on 2 levels, all tastefully decorated with high quality pure cotton bedding, a mini sound system and air condition. Some have their own outdoor area. The open plan kitchen is fully equipped with all necessary appliances and tools to be fully self-catered if you wish. The Penthouse has a huge outside area which opens up to the lounge, a large pool and sun-beds all overlooking the majestic views. It has free wireless internet, cable television, large flat screen TV and is fully serviced daily. There is drive in access from the road into the penthouse villa for 2 cars.”
