Nestled between the distinctive Lion's Head peak and the magnificent buttresses of Table Mountain's Twelve Apostles lies Cape Town's definitive beachside suburb, Camps Bay.

Cape Town's piece of palm-lined paradise, Camps Bay features an arc of wide sandy beach lapped by the azure Atlantic Ocean which is a favourite with locals and tourists alike.

During the summer months, the beachfront becomes a hub of activity and energy with volleyballers, models, fashionable young people and tour groups enjoying the sandy beach and sun-drenched promenade. Luxury yachts drop anchor in the bay and international film crews set up on the beach against the exquisite Mediterranean backdrop.

Glenn Beach, on the north end of Camps Bay, is popular with surfers, while the opposite end features a broad tidal pool ideal for a safe, enclosed swim. Camps Bay is the quintessential sun-downer beach, with its west-facing shores attracting groups of carefree holiday makers and locals celebrating the setting sun after a long summer's day.

The attractive Camps Bay promenade is lined with sidewalk cafes, bars and restaurants that spill onto the pavement and serve sumptuous breakfasts, gourmet dinners, and designer cocktails. Outdoor seating allows you to enjoy the sea view and offers a great vantage point for people watching.

Slightly sandy sarong-clad beach-goers enjoy casual sundowners, elegantly attired diners eat out in style and the trendy clubs and cocktail bars pump funky, African-infused beats throughout the summer nights.

A few metres from the beachfront, the distinctive Theatre on the Bay showcases local and international cabaret, drama and musical performances.

The central Promenade shopping centre overlooks the beach and contains a small supermarket, ATMs, foreign exchange services, a fishmonger, designer boutiques, an optometrist, a pharmacy and an ice-cream parlour.
