Cape luxury accommodation in the Deep South

Those in the know favour the Deep South when looking for luxury accommodation in the Cape for the holidays.

Where is the Deep South?

Capetonians refer to the area from Noordhoek on the Atlantic Ocean side all the way around the southern side of the Cape Peninsula and back up around the Indian Ocean side to Muizenberg as the Deep South. Included in this area are seaside suburbs such as Noordhoek, Kommetjie, Scarborough, Cape Point, Simon’s Town, Glencairn, Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay and Muizenberg.

Why choose a luxury vacation villa in the Deep South?

Family Friendly

The Deep South is the most laid-back part of Cape Town. Most entertainment areas have play parks and jungle gyms.

The Noordhoek Farm Village offers holiday programmes for kids and has a number of curio shops and eateries. Noordhoek is animal-friendly and the seven-kilometre stretch of white sandy beach is a play park for dogs and horse-riders alike.

Imhoff Village is on the way to Kommetjie and offers loads of family entertainment from camel and horse rides to a petting farm and reptile park. Curio shops and restaurants complete the picture.

Cape Point Nature Reserve is a Natural World Heritage Site at the tip of the Cape Peninsula. Beautiful rugged coastline scenery and fynbos make this a favourite spot for hikers and nature lovers.

Simon’s Town, where the South African Navy has its headquarters, is home to the South African Naval Museum. Boulders Bay is a local beach where thousands of African penguins can be viewed up close in their natural habitat.

Fish Hoek beach is a firm favourite for families with its warmer ocean, inviting sandy beach and kiddies playpark and family restaurants.

Surfers’ paradise

Surf’s always up at Muizenberg, where good surf schools are available and seasoned surfers also flock from all over to ride the waves. Other good surf spots include Noordhoek and Kommetjie.

Whale watching

Motorists are often amazed when driving along the Main Road or Boyes Drive from Muizenberg further south to spot frolicking whales in the surf. The whales usually arrive in the Cape winter to mate and give birth to their young and can be spotted all along the Southern Peninsula coast.

Value for money

The Deep South attracts a different type of holidaymaker. It is more family oriented and appeals to laid-back travellers. Better value for money can be found. Stunning sea view villas go for a song and holidaymakers can relax without feeling a constant pressure on their pockets.
