Simon's Town

Enjoy the laid-back culture and magnificent natural setting of Simon’s Town with plenty of mountain walks and the seaside on your doorstep

Cape Town’s South Peninsula, with Simon’s Town as the last train stop on the Southern Suburbs line, offers a completely different experience to the Atlantic Seaboard. Here you will find interesting nooks and crannies, unusual eateries, shops and galleries and great surf spots.

Simon’s Town is also the home of the South African navy and the SA Navy Museum, which is housed in the original Dockyard Storehouse dating back to the 1700’s.

The warmer Indian Ocean makes swimming a fun holiday activity at any of the beaches near Simon’s Town – be it Fish Hoek, Glencairn or Boulder’s Beach, where you will also get a chance to frolic on the beach and swim with the resident African Penguin colony!

However, Simon’s Town holidays offer so much more than just the beach. Enjoy the laid-back culture of the locals while browsing through interesting shops. Tourists can leisurely spend their days trying out different restaurants and pubs.

Simon’s Town is close enough to enable easy exploring of Cape Point and other South Peninsula finds such as Scarborough, Kommetjie, Noordhoek, Kalk Bay and Muizenberg.

The secret season, early autumn, can be a lovely time for exploring the Western Cape. The winter months can be cold and wet with rainy days.

Simon’s Town is quaint and interesting and generally very easy-going. It is the last outpost on the spectacular False Bay, which offers a feast for your eyes with its natural beauty fringed by rugged mountains.
