Camps Bay

Camps Bay is well known for its nightlife with a range of trendy restaurants and bars lined up across from the beach and the palm-tree promenade. Some of Cape Town’s wealthiest residents have houses in Camps Bay, but locals and tourists alike enjoy the amazing atmosphere of the sidewalk cafés on the beachfront while sipping a cocktail and watching the sunset over the ocean.

Camps Bay is really the place to be seen, meeting friends for a meal or just enjoying a cappuccino. The sunsets in Camps Bay are a delight and there is nothing better than a refreshing cocktail after a hard day playing in the sand and surf.

With the backdrop of the 12 Apostles mountain range, the perfect photo opportunity is never very far away so make sure you have your camera ready to capture the afternoon sun on the rugged cliffs or the clear, turquoise waters of the ocean.

The best time to visit Camps Bay is during the sunny summer months. Be aware however as many locals come to the beach too and it can become very crowded during the holidays. The summer offers the best beach weather.

If you travel to Camps Bay between the end of January and the beginning of April, just before autumn starts, you will miss the crowds and still have the warm weather. The winter months are cold and wet with rainy days.
