The space
Bedrooms in the villa combine stunning architecture with modern furnishings and amenities. Decorated in warm colours, they feature high ceilings. Rooms are air-conditioned with elegant en-suit bathrooms with designer toiletries. There is complimentary WiFi throughout the whole villa.
Vrede en Lust is a working wine farm. The winery is set on the historic Huguenot site which was granted 330 years ago in 1688. Vrede en Lust had the #1 rated red wine (Boet Erasmus), the #1 rated white wine (White Mischief) and the #1 rated Rosé (Jess) as rated by the attendees of South Africa’s leading wine show RMB Winex in Oct 2018. No other winery has made that clean sweep before.
The winery offer a range of tastings, cellar tours and has an award winning onsite restaurant – Lust Bistro and Bakery. The Residence at Vrede en Lust offers all of the discovery and fun of a vineyard stay in the complete privacy and luxury of your own fully serviced villa set in 3 hectares / 7.5 acres space.
The Residence is located amidst the top wineries and restaurants in the winelands. The rooms are all large, the entertainments spaces are large and all well decorated.

Guest access
There is a popular Bistro on the estate – Lust Bistro and Bakery. Its open from breakfast to lunch and open for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings. They can also deliver to the villa. Up the farm road there is another boutique guest farm where dinner is served at Angala. Within 5km/3m radius of the farm there are a number of other top wineries to visit and enjoy.
The popular Franschhoek Wine Tram has a platform at Vrede en Lust, which provides access to about 40 wineries in the valley without the need to drive!
Interaction with guests
The Residence at Vrede en Lust has a full time General Manager who is available to help plan your trips and help with reservations and catering planning. He can be there as much or as little as you wish! We live close by and my brother Etienne who runs the Vrede en Lust business lives up the road. There is quite a lot to do on the estate itself and then there are many other leading wineries, restaurants, spa’s, golf courses and art galleries in the beautiful Paarl-Franschhoek valley. It is located 60km from the Cape Town Waterfront and 45km from Cape Town International Airport. Paarl is 12 km away, Franschhoek is 18km away and Stellenbosch is 15km away

Getting around
The Franschhoek Wine Tram has a platform at Vrede en Lust and guests may visits a large number of wineries from there without ever driving themselves. In addition there are Uber drivers available as well as other transport services by appointment.
