Churchhaven
Blessed with breathtaking surroundings as far as the eye can see, most holidaymakers visit Churchhaven for the gorgeous scenery and beautiful flowers.
Churchhaven is located on the shores of Langebaan Lagoon and it’s engulfed in spectacular natural scenery. With the Atlantic Ocean in the west and the crystal blue waters of the lagoon in the east this little West Coast town is blessed with breath taking surroundings as far as the eye can see.
Churchhaven is situated in the West Coast National Park, right outside the Postberg Flower Reserve. This lovely little fishing village is known for its characteristic white-washed fishermen’s houses and its pristine beaches. It is the perfect place for you to relax completely and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Most holidaymakers visit Churchhaven for the gorgeous natural scenery and the beautiful flowers. West Coast National Park is home to over 250 bird species with four bird hides situated right inside the Park. This gives enthusiasts the opportunity to view a variety of bird species such as the Flamingo, Ostrich and Black Harrier. The park’s wetlands actually offer sanctuary to over 5,000 flamingos during the winter time.
Whales and dolphins are often seen right from the beach, especially during August and September.
There are many hiking trails to enjoy in the park itself and visitors can even view ancient footsteps, which are said to be from a woman who lived 117 000 years ago, that have been fossilised in the soil. Other activities include swimming in the ocean and the lagoon and relaxing on the beach.
Churchhaven does not have much in the way of nightlife, but people looking for a party can go next door to Langebaan for a dose of fun as soon as the sun goes down.
