The FIFA World Cup 2010 is coming to Cape Town! The 2010 Stadium is located on the north western section of the Atlantic Seaboard next door to the famous V&A Waterfront. This state-of-the-art stadium is also adjacent to Mouille Point, trendy Greenpoint and Seapoint suburbs. This is a flourishing area of restaurants and clubs with holiday accommodation for all tastes. A wide seaside promenade borders the ocean as it runs from the Waterfront past these suburbs. The deep blue ocean stretches out past Robben Island and Table Bay, while the steep slopes of Signal Hill and Lion's Head stand guard over the coastline, giving shelter from prevailing winds.
Mouille Point:
A cosy suburb to the west of the V&A Waterfront, flanked by fashionable Green Point, Mouille Point is most noted for its wide vista of open ocean and conspicuous lighthouse. This distinctive red and white striped Victorian beacon stands proudly along the winding seaside promenade, providing a warning to ships up to 25 kilometres out to sea.Small beaches lie tucked beneath the promenade in protected rocky coves and are a favourite with the locals. Upmarket holiday apartments line the seafront and gaze across Table Bay where bright-sailed yachts often circle adding contrast to the sapphire sea. The 2010 stadium is built between Mouille Point and Green Point
Green Point:
Well-known as the 2010 FIFA World Cup Stadium location, Green Point has long been a select suburb. With easy access to the Waterfront and the city centre, this area is a hub of concept restaurants, clubs and exclusive boutiques. Holiday apartments to suit all tastes and budgets clamour for sea views and line the slopes of Signal Hill. The views of Table Bay, the working harbour, Robben Island and beyond are simply spectacular.
Sea Point:
Sea Point merges with Green Point on the seaward side of Signal Hill and is characterised by its long winding coastal promenade, its well-earned reputation for good quality dining spots and a bevy of high rise apartments competing for ocean views. It is a hive of entertainment, boasting a buzzing strip of restaurants, all night cafes, bistros and nightclubs. The three kilometres of attractive promenade attract sun-worshippers of all shapes and sizes - casual strollers, joggers and young roller-bladers. The well-positioned Sea Point Pavilion has enclosed seawater swimming pools overlooking the shoreline.
